Delft University of Technology study trip to the Ports of Genoa

A group of thirty master students from Delft University of Technology visits the Ports of Genoa as a model for best practices.

Full immersion in Genoa on the part of a group of students in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, and Offshore and Dredging Engineering from The Netherlands on a study trip to Italy, organised by the Delft University maritime technology study association, with on-site inspections of Italy's leading ports and shipyards.

The delegation was received by management at the Port Authority headquarters of Palazzo San Giorgio, with a general presentation of the Ports of Genoa, Pra', Savona and Vado as the Southern European alternative to the Northern Range ports. A focus was dedicated to the 2.3-billion euro major infrastructure investment programme underway in the Ligurian ports aimed at improving the overall accessibility of the Ports of Genoa by sea/road/rail/air and to the upcoming energy transition in progress across the shipping industry and the Italian ports' firm commitment to cold ironing and renewable energy.

Delft University's visit to Genoa featured on-site inspections to a selection of Italy's premier shipyards: Fincantieri, global leader in the construction of cruise ships, and Amico & Co., specialised in the worldwide super and mega-yacht refit, repair and conversion sector.
