Project

New road infrastructure and layout across the Genoa-Sampierdarena port area is set to improve heavy goods vehicle accessibility across the San Benigno Port Gate to the container terminal facility at Calata Bettolo and to the liquid bulk facilities at Calata Olii Minerali. The project foresees the construction of a 4-multi-lane viaduct connected directly to the terminal gates, and a second viaduct which will provide direct access on both sides of the Bettolo-Rugna Rail Yard which serves the Calata Bettolo, Calata Olii Minerali and SECH facilities. The new layout of the area south of the rail yard has been reviewed to incorporate new parking facilities for HGVs, cars and motorbikes.

The project forms part of a wide-ranging plan to improve overall road accessibility to the Port of Genoa-Sampierdarena area, thereby easing simultaneously both inner port and urban traffic congestion.
