CULTURE / TOURISM
I would like to visit Palazzo San Giorgio. Is it possible to take a guided tour?

Palazzo San Giorgio was commissioned in 1260 as the first public building in Genoa. In 1903 it served as the headquarters of the Consorzio Autonomo del Porto, then of the Port Authority of Genoa and today as the head office of the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority. From January 2018 it is open to visitors one Saturday per month with guided tours organized by the volunteers of the Genova FAI Delegation (The Italian Heritage Turst). The guided tours (groups of max. 20 people) convene in the hall of the Palazzo (via della Mercanzia 2) at 10 and 11 a.m.
Reservations must be made in advance by calling +39 333 778 1977 or sending an e-mail to genova@delegazionefai.fondoambiente.it

Thanks to the collaboration between FAI Genova and the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority, in an endeavour to foster appreciation and promote the importance of Palazzo San Giorgio as part of Italy’s heritage, the public has the opportunity to discover the artistic and historical legacy of one of the leading landmarks of the city and the port of Genoa.

From the majestic “Sale delle Compere” and “del Capitano” to the monumental staircase, the Loggiato and the “Manica Lunga”, the guided tours provide an insight on the architectural and cultural value of the Palazzo across the major periods of its history.

Palazzo San Giorgio is part of the Beni promossi dai volontari FAI Italian campaign. The FAI guided tours calendar is available in the NEWS section of the Port Authority website www.portsofgenoa.com and on Facebook – Ports of Genoa.
