Genoa, 30 October 2025 – Today the Management Committee of the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority voted unanimously on the nomination of Tito Vespasiani as Secretary General, upon a proposal submitted by the President of the Ports of Genoa and Savona-Vado, Matteo Paroli.
Vespasiani, 62 years-old, currently Secretary General of the Southern Adriatic Sea Port Authority which administers the Ports of Bari and Brindisi, steps in to replace Paolo Piacenza who has been officially appointed President of the Southern Tyrrhenian and Ionian Sea Port Authority of Gioia Tauro.
Tito Vespasiani’s nomination is in line with the Port Authority’s firm commitment to strengthen the guiding principles of port governance in Genoa and Savona-Vado Ligure, towards the establishment of a modern and effective public administration to encourage further investments by responding to the requirements of the operators and the international markets which seek greater simplification, transparency and certainties.
The newly appointed Secretary General graduated in Law and boasts a long-established professional background at the helm of a range of major Italian ports, and wide-ranging experience in public administration. He has to date held the position as Port Authority Secretary General for four 4-year mandates, consolidating his expertise in port governance, firstly in Ancona and subsequently in Bari-Brindisi. Alongside these public roles, Tito Vespasiani has also pursued a successful academic career in maritime law and supply chain management, in collaboration with universities and technical institutes. He has published numerous papers and two books on port legislation. In addition, Vespasiani has over the years built up a high level of specialisation in public sector budgeting and financial reporting, public procurement processes, project management and international maritime law, with on-site study experience gained at the Port Authorities of the United States and Canada.
