Official Launch of the first edition of the Ports of Genoa Sustainability Report, The Western Liguria Sea Port Authority wins the prestigious 2022 Reporting Oscar for the “Best Sustainability Report” in the category “Public Body and Industry Association”, promoted by FERPI (Italian Federation of Public Relations), in cooperation with the Italian Stock Exchange and Bocconi University. 25 November 2022 – The Ports of Genoa was invited to attend the Awards Ceremony of the 58th edition of the FERPI Reporting Oscars held at Palazzo Mezzanotte, headquarters of the Milan Stock Exchange, to receive the Oscar for Best Sustainability Report, in recognition of the excellence achieved in the challenging course embarked upon by the Port Authority in the last two years in sustainability reporting, leading to the recent successful publication of the first edition. The Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority is on track in its implementation of the major wide-ranging 3-billion euro infrastructure and technology innovation investment programme across the four neighbouring Ports of Genoa, Pra’, Savona and Vado, with the objective of dovetailing a heightened competitivity of the ports with greater economic development, protection of the environment and integration with the city; in short, a plan which aims ultimately at sustainable growth. Firmly committed to public disclosure and transparency, in 2020 the Port Authority commenced a course which was completed in September 2022 with the official publication of the Ports of Genoa Sustainability Report. A non-profit initiative, FERPI promotes and celebrates excellence in corporate reporting, disclosure and transparency, and identifies and honours exceptional sustainability reporting leaders. The Ports of Genoa ranked first in the “Public Body and Industry Association” category, amongst a total of over 300 entries, with a breakdown across 9 categories and 3 special prizes, assessed by 100 commissioners and the final awards announced by a jury presided by Gianmario Verona, Rector of Bocconi University. "A focus on the processes used to achieve sustainability has become crucial in recent years” – declared the Port President Paolo Emilio Signorini – “Sustainability, in terms of the environment, social awareness, economic growth and governance. A major port, which dates as far back as medieval times and with specific complicated geographical features, requires a huge commitment on our part. We embarked upon this course in 2020, with the participation of the entire Port Authority, during a difficult moment in time characterised by the extensive impact of the pandemic and other global events.
