The Ports of Genoa at Breakbulk Europe 2022

The Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority, flanked by a selection of terminal operators, showcased its full range of port services and facilities in Rotterdam, from 17 to 19 May, at the world's leading breakbulk event. After a two-year stoppage, due to the repercussions of the pandemic, enthusiasm for the global event reached new heights with the participation of 600 exhibitors from 120 countries and over 9000 visitors.

The Ports of Genoa, together with co-exhibitors C.I.S.Co (Italian Shipping Container Thinktank) and Promos Italia (Italian Agency of Chambers of Commerce), illustrated the wide spectrum of port logistic solutions offered to users by the vibrant local shipping community who, over the years, has acquired a justified reputation for handling difficult project and heavy-lift cargo, ro-ro and bulk requiring specific expertise. At Stand n. 2F 61, the Port Authority provided assistance to the group of terminal operating companies, ship agents, freight forwarders, brokers and IT providers of Genoa, Pra', Savona and Vado Ligure by setting up an excellent networking hub to capitalise upon the business opportunities offered during the busy three-day international event.

The breakbulk and ro-ro commodity sector accounts for almost a quarter of total tonnage handled by the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority, approximately 15 million tonnes per year, with a specific focus on heavy machinery, oversized cargo, mega-yachts, car carriers, cellulose and steel.
