From June 2nd to 5th, the Ports of Genoa will be on-site at Transport Logistic 2025 in Munich, the leading international trade fair for logistics, mobility, IT, and supply chain management. The event provides a comprehensive overview of the latest trends, innovations and developments across the global industry, and groups together over 2,500 exhibitors from over 70 countries, across 150,000 sqm at the prestigious Messe Muenchen Centre.
With a spacious booth located in Hall B2 Stand321/422, in which the key players from the Ports of Genoa and Savona-Vado Ligure’s shipping community can showcase the wide range of high-quality services on offer, - alongside a full programme of workshops, conferences, and networking events - the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority will once again be on call at Transport Logistic to facilitate contacts between the ports’ terminal operators and service providers, and current and future port users.
The Ports of Genoa has successfully capitalised upon its strategic geographical position in the industrial and consumer heartland of Europe on the Mediterranean Sea at the crossroads of the global maritime trade routes, and upon the invaluable experience and professionalism of its vibrant shipping community, to serve as the natural southern gateway for Central Europe’s import/export companies. The four-day international Transport Logistic event will provide Italy’s premier port with the opportunity to invite shippers to “Think Upside-Down” and to consider the Southern Ports of Genoa, seamlessly integrated in an efficient intermodal network, as a viable alternative to the Northern European ports.
Across the full programme of workshops and social events hosted at the Ports of Genoa and Savona-Vado’s stand, visitors will be guided by the on-site team towards an insightful perspective of the multi-business port which boast a wide selection of dedicated terminals, managed by the leading international players of the shipping industry, equipped to accommodate all classes of ships (up to 24,000 teus) and cater for all key commodity sectors: containers, general cargo, perishable goods, breakbulk, project cargo, solid and liquid bulk. All the major carriers call at the Ports of Genoa and offer a wide variety of choice to importers and exporters, with over 150 regular liner services to 450 ports worldwide.
Seamless integration along the cross-border European road and rail corridors represents one of the main economic drivers of the development of the Ports of Genoa-Pra' and Savona-Vado Ligure, which together handle annually on average over 33% of Italy’s total container gateway traffic. Today, the ports offer over 100 weekly direct rail services to the Northern Italian manufacturing and consumer heartland across a network of inland terminals (in Piemonte, Lombardia, Veneto, Emilio Romangna), in addition to the current 3/weekly direct service to Basel in Switzerland and the 3/weekly service to Stuttgart in Germany scheduled to kick off in September.
Efficient railway services are a key driver in sustainable port development. The railway lines which today connect Genoa and Savona-Vado to the European network are currently being upgraded and retrofitted with new technology to comply with recent infrastructure developments to the network. Works are in progress to equip the Ports of Genoa cargo facilities with the capability to handle, in full safety, EU standardised freight trains (750 metres in length, P/C 80 gauge, 12.5% max. gradient). The range of last mile rail connection projects are in fact central to the 3-billion euro major infrastructure investment programme underway across the ports to ensure that by 2027 the ports will be on track to be completely integrated in the TEN-T North Sea-Rhine-Mediterranean corridor, upon the completion of the Terzo Valico hi-speed/hi-capacity Third Railway Line across the Apennines.
