Genoa's Terminal San Giorgio orders a new crane and plans a new Ro-Ro berth

Terminal San Giorgio is investing heavily in new equipment and has placed an order for a Konecranes Gottwald Model 7 mobile crane with a lifting capacity of up to 150 tonnes and a working radius of 54 metres.

The investment programme is a key component of an extensive business plan and foresees the delivery by the end of June of the new G HMK 7608 high-performance mobile crane which, due to its versatility, can be used to handle both containers and breakbulk, and will join TSG’s existing four harbour cranes.

Terminal San Giorgio has recently implemented a sizeable investment programme of over 7 million euros which includes the purchase of 2 new Hyster reach stackers and 7 new Terberg port tractors, which will flank the 18 units currently available, to cater for the strong growth in Motorways of the Sea ro-ro traffic. The new modern handling equipment is due to be delivered shortly. In view of the ongoing buoyant trading conditions, TSG also plans to construct a fourth ro-ro berth.
