The mission of the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority, to consolidate the strategic geographical role of the Ports of Genoa and Savona-Vado Ligure as centre of cargo handling excellence to serve Europe, dovetails with the policies adopted by the Port Authority towards the European Union institutions.
The dedication and commitment of the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority to research, planning and implementation of projects, partially or fully co-funded by the European Union, is conspicuous.
The Ports of Genoa and Savona-Vado Ligure pledge their full support to implementing a sustainable and digital transition programme which incorporates the key targets set both by central government and by the European Union institutions. Within this framework, the Port Authority capitalises upon its participation in the major EU programmes with the objective of:
- ensuring the alignment of the projects carried out by the Port Authority with the projects and programmes promoted by the EU;
- structuring the strategic projects in line with major European policies, with a breakdown in activities which can be funded across specific EU programmes;
- striking a balance between public and private capital in funding the major strategic activities of the Ports of Genoa.
Projects funded fully by the public sector, with the support of the European Union across grants, can act as a catalyst to private or mixed public/private investments, a roadmap for integrated planning and implementation.
