Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport is ideally located just 6 kilometres from the city centre and the seaport. Synergy between the two infrastructure systems will be strengthened further over the next few years as the airport gradually develops its intermodal potential. The airport has a direct connection to the motorway, while the new coastal motorway linking the airport, port and city centre was opened in early 2015. Planning is currently under way for a direct link to the nearby railway station, thanks to the support of the European transport agency, TEN-T.
The airport’s cargo terminal comprises a 3,000 square metre warehouse and a similar sized area which houses the airport, customs and shipping offices. The terminal offers a wide range of connections to domestic and international destinations, as well as services such as cold storage, containers for radioactive material and storage areas.
