Ports of Genoa
Economic and Social Impact Studies
Today the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority, along with the over 1,100 concessionaires that form the backbone of the Ports of Genoa and Savona-Vado Ligure, act as a catalyst for economic growth, providing direct employment for over 33,000 people in the region, whilst the induced impact of the port activities across the sector’s supply chain is estimated to support over 125,000 jobs. In addition, the Ports of Genoa are a major contributor to the Italian GDP and play a strategic role in maintaining Italy's leadership in the Mediterranean as centre of cargo and passenger handling excellence.
Studies and analyses, conducted or commissioned by the Ports of Genoa, report and enhance the activities undertaken by the Port Authority, alongside the economic and social impact generated overall by the wide-ranging port operations. In addition, the findings of these studies are used in support of the elaboration of port planning strategic guidelines, by identifying opportunities for growth and sustainable development, with the collaboration of industry operators and stakeholders.
