Project

The project foresees the installation of shoreside electrical power facilities which consent cruise and ferry ships calling at Genoa’s passenger port to switch off the generators and plug into the local electrical power grid. Onshore power supply is a key driver in reducing carbon emissions into the atmosphere and noise pollution produced by the combustion engines onboard.
Quay electrification is scheduled to be boosted across the installation of an additional electrical substation (project OPS “Add-on”). The new facility will be capable of handling up to 132 MW of power, thereby extending onshore power supply to the cargo terminals at the Sampierdarena basin.
