Project

The project is scheduled to complete the electrification of the Genoa Pra' container terminal, with the provision of two additional plug-ins along the quayline westwards. The installation of onshore power supply facilities commenced across the EU project INES – Implementing New Environmental Solutions in the Port of Genoa (CEF Transport), with the construction of the electrical substation and infrastructure necessary for the provision of shoreside electrical power. This allows ships calling at the container terminal to switch off the generators and plug into the local electrical power grid. Onshore power supply is a key driver in reducing carbon emissions into the atmosphere and noise pollution produced by the combustion engines onboard.
