Project

The New Pope Bridge, applauded for its state-of-the-art design, is to be built on two multi-lane levels, providing a direct road link for heavy goods vehicles transiting the Genoa-Sampierdarena port basin. Upon completion, the bridge will be up to 200 metres long, 35 metres high per 3,800 tons in weight. The new road construction is set to ease simultaneously both inner port and urban traffic congestion by improving access to the port gates.
The New Pope Bridge forms part of a wide-ranging plan to upgrade overland access to the Port of Genoa.
